The sun was shinning today. What a disappointment.

I had no other options than to just join Lord Alexander for a game of croquet.

Perhaps I can just say that I have caught a cold on yesterdays horse back riding.

It did rain so I would not be completely lying.

No. They will see right through my scheme and will probably even extend the game for another hour or two as punishment.

”Thou arts clean my lady. ” said Margaret, and I rose to my feet being immediately wrapped in garments before getting my hair braided.

”Isn this exiting? ” asked Dell as she brushed my hair smiling.

”No. ”

”W-well Im sure Lord Alexander will make it fun for you by making you win. ” she said reassuring assuming that I meant I wasn excited because I thought that I was going to lose, and I smirk.

”Oh don worry dear Dell. I intend to win, and I do not need Alexander to purposefully lose to do so. ”

”My lady you must always remain lady like no matter what. This is your future husband we are talking about. You must always throw him your most appealing side. ” said Maricelina and I shook my head and roll my eyes.

”Why must I pretend to be something thar I am not only to appease a man? If a man wants to be my husband then he will have to love and marry me for me. Not for the pretty pampered lady that my mother wants me to be. ”

”But my lady you are pretty and pampered. Please my lady. Your mother will have your head if you are not on your best behavior today. Please do promise us. ” begged Margaret falling to her knees, and I exhaled deeply.

”Okay. I promise. ”

I hid a tiny smile as I removed my previously crossed fingers from behind my bank as we left my bed chamber going to the dining room where my dear sister and parents were.

”Pleasant morning to you family. The sun is radiant isn it? ” I asked smiling brightly as I took my place at the table, and they stopped eating for a minute as they at each other, then back at me with suspicion.

”Yes it is quite beautiful isn it? The perfect weather for a game of croquet I would say. ” said mother, and I smiled nodding.

”Indeed. My only wish is that Lord Alexander will take it easy on little old me. ”

”Yes. ” said my mother squinting at me as she sipped on her tea.

”Mmm this is delicious. ”

”Its just eggs. You have them every morning. ” said Ophelia giggling.

”Well then that chicken must have spent extra time on making my egg. I can feel the motherly love. If only I was not eating her what could have been child. ”

”If you care so much about a hen and an eggs feelings why don you stop eating them then? ” asked father, and I thought about it for a second.

”Hmmm. You know what father. You are right. As of now I will not be eating anything with a face. ”

”Oh lord. ” said my father sighing as he shook his head and went back to eating.

”Okay miss Adelia what is your master plan here? You are planning to ruin the day and in entirety your engagement aren you? ” asked mother and I shrugged as I looked at my eggs with longing, ”oh for the Queens sake please eat your eggs. ”

”Okay. ”

”Tell me Adelia. Will you be on your best behavior today? ” asked my mother, and I sighed.

”Mother please. Yes I will be on my best behavior, and I will not disgrace you anymore, now can I please enjoy the rest of my breakfast in peace? Thank you. ”

”Of course dear. Would you like some more eggs my sweet flower? ” she asked smiling, and I exhaled in dissatisfaction, but I did still accept the eggs, for I was hungry from not finishing supper last night.

Darn it.

I forgot to cross my fingers when making that promise.

I reckon that I do have to be on my best behavior today.

”Girls come on into the carriage. We do not want to be late. ” said mother hurrying me and my sister up after we had cleaned up after breakfast, and I sighed as I dragged my feet.

”Oh, but we do mother. ”

”Adelia! ” she hissed, ”remember your promise. ”

”To be on my best behavior. Yes yes mother I remember. How can I forget? ”

”Good. Now lets go. The Astros are probably waiting. ” she said, and we were off.

”Mother why do we have to go the Astros manner? Couldn we have held the game here? ”

”Hush child. The Astros wee gracious enough to have us over after your show yesterday in the sitting room, so you better behave today. I cannot have people gossiping about us. ” she said and I shook my head, for of course it was about our image.

”Im getting hot. Can this carriage go any faster? ” I asked as I furiously fanned my face which was no help at all if I was being honest.

”Adelia that is not lady like! ” scolded mother taking the fan from my fan demonstrating what I should be doing, ”like so. See how I embody the grace as that of a swan? ”

”Yes, but being graceful will not cool me down now will it mother? ”

”I give up. ” she sighed handing me back my fan as she shook her head in dramatic disappointment, ”what am I going to do with you?

”Allow me to live by myself on a farm in solitude. ”

”No daughter of mine will be herding sheep, and practicing witchery. I refuse! ” she yelled, and I shrugged.

”No one said anything about practicing witchery mother, but since you mentioned it its not such a bad idea. Ill think about it. ”

”Oh dear. ” said mother dramatically as she placed a hand over her forehead in sorrow, ”dear God just kill me now please, for if you don then my precious daughter will. ”

”Deli stop. You play too much. ” begged Ophelia, and I pouted.

”But I am having fun, Pheli. ”

”Please. ” she begged once more.

”Fine. From this second on I will be serious. ” I said, and I did keep my promise, for when the carriage had stopped and we had arrived I was as serious as I could be shooting cold looks to everyone, especially to, Alexander.

”Lord Alexander. ”

”Lady Adelia. ” he replied taking my hand keeping eye contact as he placed a sweet kiss on my hand.

”Lord Alexander do tell, do you kiss every maiden like this on the hand? ”

”Only the one I intend to marry my lady. ” he said smiling brightly which annoyed me.

”I see. So you intend to marry the all of England I presume? ” I asked and his smile fell, and I smirked walking away to grab a mallet and he followed behind me quickly grabbing the one that I was going to grab, but I just gave him a kind smile as he smirked for I was going to destroy him.
