Ghost: Story of the phase shifting hero

The sun is above the horizon, shining brightly on a mansion located in the countryside. The cream coloured mansion glows due to the orange sunlight. Inside one of the rooms, a male teenager is sleeping soundly while his right leg is hanging out of the blanket. The bed he is on is a royal king-sized bed. The sound of the alarm buzzes and he desperately moves his hands to stop the alarm. He wobbles and growls at the clock. He picks himself up and tries to comb his fuzzy hair with his hands.

He lazes around for a while and finally snaps out of sleepiness. He starts by brushing his teeth and then completes all his morning activities as the clock ticks at 8: 45. He walks out of his room with a bag slung around his left shoulder, walks down the stairs in a rush and runs into a man in a suit.

”Good Morning, Sir. ”

”Good morning, David and please stop calling me sir for gods sake. ” he replies in a rush.

”Breakfast is ready. Please have it before you go to college. ” David requests

”Ok, fine. ” He frowns.

He rushes towards the dining table and plants himself on a chair where the breakfast is already on the plate. He starts digging at the freshly cooked pancakes.

”Eat properly ” A female voice calls from behind.

”Yeah, Im in a kind of rush here, ” he replies, with a stuffed mouth as he struggles to chew.

She comes and sits beside him as a servant starts serving her. She looks at the pancakes and smiles gently towards the servant.

”Thank you. ”

While he is dressed like a typical college-going nerd, with a hoodie, sneakers, and jeans, she, on the other hand, is wearing an office outfit, office heels, an office skirt and a white shirt with a coat. He is slightly dark-toned and has black hair, while she has straight blonde hair and has light-toned skin.

She takes her knife and fork to start eating the pancakes. She shows table manners, unlike him, who doesn seem to give any sort of thought to it.

”I am pretty sure I said eat properly, Axel. ” She taunts him.

”Fine, Sis. ” Axel stops abruptly and starts to eat properly.

”Don worry, Ill drop you off on my way to the office. ” She says humbly.

”Really? ” he says, rather shocked by her words.

”Well, after crashing the only car you had, I think its best if I drop you off to college. ”

Axel awkwardly looks to the other side, whistling while remembering his mistake.

still facing the other side, ”Ah, you know, it was not my fault, you know… ”

”Yeah, Im pretty sure the pole was in the way. ” She taunts him, even before he is able to give a reason.

”I am sorry, I really am, ” Axel pleads with her, and she just laughs at him. Axel just dives into guilt.

They finish their breakfast and head out of the house. A black limo pulls over and halts in front of them. A lady comes out of the car and looks at them.

”Good Morning, Mam. ” She greets.

”Good Morning, Sofia, ” Axels sister replies.

”Oh, Axel, you are also joining us today. ” She says, looking at Axel.

”How many times have I told you not to call me Mam at home? ”

”Its a habit now, Eve. ”

”Whatever, lets get going. ”

The car takes a long journey before coming to a halt at the entrance of the college. Axel steps out of the car and walks off to the college. He keeps on the path and looks around while listening to songs on his headphones. Suddenly, a guy jumps on him from behind and takes him by surprise. Axel feels the jerk and glares at him while tidying himself.

”Whats up! buddy ” He says

”What the **, dude! ” he replies angrily.

”Hey man, that wasn so hard. ”

”Yeah, let me give you a taste of your own medicine, ” Axel says, and tries to grab him.

”Okay, okay, I am sorry, man. ” He puts up his hands in defeat.

”You better be, Rony, ” Axel says with an attitude.

”Hey, are you going on a trip? ” Rony asks

”What trip? ” Axel asks, confused.

”Do you ever bother to check your phone? ” Rony is agitated.

Axel checks his phone and looks at the messages on the college app.

”Camping in the mountains sounds fun. ” Axel replies.

”So you in? ”

”Sure man, ”

”I have got this planned okay. Girls are coming and we are going to get ourselves a girl. ”

”Rony, Im pretty sure Im not in on this. ”

”Hey, are you sure you are not gay or something? ” Rony says

”I am not, its not that, I am not interested. ”

”You know, sometimes I feel like you are a serious nerd but now I am damn sure you are. ” Rony looks pitifully at Axel.

”Wait, don you dare give that look to me. ” Axel gets all worked up.

Rony still looks at him. Axel tries to keep his composure.

Axel finally gives in to it, ”Okay fine, lets go with the plan. ”

Rony starts explaining his plan to Axel as they start walking towards their class. Lectures after lectures pass, and finally the day is over and everyone starts going home. Axel and Rony also walk among the students.

”The trip is the day after tomorrow, ok. See you later ” Rony says and waves a bye at Axel.

Axel waves back without saying anything, but nods in approval. As Axel comes out of the gate, he notices his car waiting for him. Every student coming out of that gate looks at the limo in astonishment. Axel notices that and gets conscious. He walks fast, opens the door and hastily signals the driver to drive. The driver looks in the back mirror towards Axel.

”Madam is waiting at the office. Would you like to go home immediately, Sir? ” He asks

”No, take me to the office. ”

The car arrives at the office. A lavish glass building, tall and elegant, with a fireball kind of logo on the top. Axel walks into the building and everyone starts staring at him. The driver takes him directly to his sisters office. As he approaches her cabin, Axel notices Eve sitting in a meeting and simply walks into her cabin and sits on her chair. Without flinching or hesitating for a second, he opens her desktop and starts going through it. Eve finishes her meeting and comes to the cabin.

”What are you doing? ” She questions Axels intentions.

”I was just going through the company files, because I was curious as to what the company does. ” Axel replies, still looking at the screen.

Eve comes close to him. ”You can just trespass like this. ”

Axel looks up towards her. ”What? How can someone who is technically a part of this company be trespassing? ” Axel asks blankly.

”You should probably get off of that chair before I change my mind. ” Eve orders Axel.

”Whats this project Titan? ” Axel looks at the file suspiciously.

Eve comes around the table and switches off the desktop. She points at him to get up. Axel agitatedly leaves her seat and stands a few steps away. Eve looks at him with pity.

”I know you are curious and all, but this stuff is not meant for you, okay. Not yet ”

”Then when? I am already 19 and in college. ” Axel says agitatedly.

”Axel, our company serves the army and is part of many top-secret projects. Once you join the company, I will tell you everything personally. Promise ”

Axel sighs. ”Fine, you win. I respect your work ethics. ” Axel says, but feels dejected.

Eve eases up and smiles gently. ”Aww! ” She exclaims and goes for a hug. Axel gives her a hug and Sofia walks in at that moment. She looks at the brother and sister having their moment. She doesn utter a word and lets them have their moment. Eve and Axel release each other and notice Sofia in the room.

”I guess something happened here while I was away. ” Sofia says

”Nothing, you got the papers done? ”

”Yes, all done and checked. ”

”Good, Axel, we have a few things to discuss. Can you wait a bit? ”

”Yeah sure, Ill be downstairs, ” Axel says and leaves.

After a whole hour, Eve and Sofia show up. Axel joins them and they all journey back home.

The day of the trip finally dawns upon Axel and Rony and he joins Axel on the bus to the mountains. The bus cruises down the empty mountain road. Axel and Rony enjoy the rest of the crew on the bus all along the journey.

Is this trip planned and fun for them, or is it full of surprises for them? Well, thats totally up to them and their destiny.
