At Kashian’s sudden onslaught, Yernia reached out and pulled his sleeve.

Cassian had scowled at his father before he looked down at Yernia..

His expression made her visibly flinch.

She did nothing, but his countenance had turned darker.

More sinister.

She had seen Cassian often, but this was the first time she saw him in rage.

“Yernia, get up.”

Crouching down, Cassian gently wrapped his hands around Yernia’s shoulders to help her rise from her kneeling position.

“Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.”

The numbness in her legs wasn’t gone yet, and it hurt so much even to raise herself a bit.

Nevertheless, she bit her lower lip to fight her urge to cry.

She had to speak, but she still couldn’t speak.

“Yernia, did you hurt yourself?”

Kashian’s eyes widened in shock.

She could swear he had turned into a statue for a moment when he thought  Yernia was in terrible pain.

Cassian gave his father an incredulous stare while Duke Lecardo, Vicil, looked at his son with contempt.

The fact that his son had misunderstood the situation almost made him laugh.

“Haha, this is interesting.”

“Bastard.”

“My son.
Cassian.
You know that’s a lie.”

“You’re not human.”

Yernia was surprised at what Cassian had said.

What’s wrong with him now?!

From Vicil’s amusement, it appeared like he wasn’t interested in whatever his son thought anymore.

She had no idea how Cassian could insult his father like that.

The only thing she needed to do was stop him from being insane.

Yernia held his hand tightly, and Cassian’s gaze returned to her.

“Are you okay, Yernia? Are you hurt?”

How Duke Lecardo treated her earlier was different from the current situation–when Cassian saw him with her.

“No, I’m all right, Cassian.”

“Where does it hurt? Did my father hit you? Huh?”

Only then did Yernia understand what Cassian had assumed from the tableau.

She thought it was ridiculous, and it made her laugh out loud.

She couldn’t believe her friend could react this dramatically.

Yernia put her finger in her mouth and coated it with saliva before he dabbed the wet digit on the tip of his nose.

“Nose? Did you get hit in the nose? That shit-faced bastard–!”

“No.
You idiot!”

Yernia covered Cassian’s mouth with her hands to prevent him from vomiting nonsense.

“It’s because my legs had gone numb, dummy! That’s it.
Nothing else.”

“…….”

“I told you that I would put saliva on your nose if my legs had fallen asleep!”

“…….”

“I knelt in front of your father of my own volition, Cassian.
I asked him for an apology.”

“What’s going on?” Cassia asked, and it made Yernia shut her mouth.

Will he understand if she communicates with her eyes?

She didn’t want to tell him the truth, but she had to correct Cassian’s misunderstanding for everyone’s sake.

“I tried to erase my destiny.”

“…….”

“I thought you were here, so I visited your residence and brought the priest I have bribed at the shrine.”

Duke Lecardo even caught her out of everyone else who could have done it.

“I was afraid that your father would scold me, so I begged on my knees and asked for his forgiveness.
Before he could beat me first.”

Yernia whispered the last statement inaudibly so Duke Lecardo couldn’t hear it.

After carefully examining every nuance of her expressions, Cassian’s eyes relaxed when he finally sensed that Yernia wasn’t lying.

Yernia lowered the hand that she used to cover his mouth.

Then, she plopped down on the sofa.

“Is that so? Then why did you give me that look of desperation?”

“When did I?”

“I saw you crying when I came in.”

“I didn’t cry, but I almost did because my legs had gone numb.
That’s all.”

Cassian looked like she didn’t believe Yernia, but he didn’t add anything more.

Perhaps he had decided to believe her now, no matter what.

Cassian reached out to touch the legs she had complained about repeatedly, and Yernia clutched his wandering hands to halt him.

“No, don’t do that.”

Yerrnia knew what Cassian was about to do.

He was soon about to rub her legs with those hands, and she didn’t like it.

It would be pure, agonizing torture if someone were to move her legs at that moment.

However, Cassian pushed Yernia’s hand lightly and grabbed her leg again.

His large hands began to knead one of her calves slowly and gently.

Uh-huh.

Yernia raised her head and groaned.

As she bent her knees again and hid her calves underneath her bottom, she pushed Cassian desperately out of the sofa with her hands.

“I’ve told you so many times that nothing bad will happen.
Why didn’t you just rub your legs instead of getting your nose dirty?”

“Ouch!”

It wasn’t that she didn’t do it because she had no idea how.

The slight spark of electricity running up and down her leg almost made her scream.

Yernia would prefer a slow but less painful way to cure this numbness than just ending it quickly.

“You… You… the Duke–”

Every time Kashian tried to squeeze a cramp, green and black stars seemed to float in her vision.

Yernia had another idea.

Perhaps, she could turn this pain into something.

Yena grabbed Cassian by the shoulder.

She was going to tell him what she should have said earlier.

It wasn’t easy, but…

“Father did what?”

“It’s a misunderstanding.
Apology.
Ugh….”

Yernia struggled painfully as she tried to tear off Cassian’s head.

Vicill stared at his bold son with contentment as he continued to act as if nothing had happened.

“It’s all right.
Everyone will do something like that.”

“…….”

“You seem to have grown rather well, Cassian.
If my wife were in such a situation,  I would have done the same.
Well done, son.”

As always, Yernia could not understand the conversation between Duke Lecardo and Cassian.

The numbness in  Yernia’s legs confused her.

That was why his words didn’t sink into her brain that much to understand.
