Chapter 196 – Who am I? Where am I? (3)

“Mmm.” Gu Shao nodded and thanked him before taking Gu Xi into the laboratory that was now ready for her.

“Wait, Dad.” Gu Xi stopped Gu Shao.

“What is it?”

“My schoolmates will be here shortly.
Let’s wait for them here,” said Gu Xi.

They had already informed the laboratory that her schoolmates would be joining her, but Gu Shao’s laboratory was the size of a maze.
She worried that the others would not be able to find them if she didn’t wait by the entrance.

Gu Shao nodded.
Gu Xi had mentioned to him earlier that a couple of her classmates were also on her SL Youth Innovation Competition team and that they would be joining her today.
Gu Shao had agreed to that.

Gu Xi posted a message to their newly formed chat group and let them know where to go to find her.

Someone arrived shortly thereafter.

The first one to arrive was Dong Mingming.

Dong Mingming greeted Gu Shao excitedly, “Hi, Uncle Gu.”

She had ceased being Gu Yanlin’s fangirl ever since she had met Gu Xi’s father.

Gu Shao nodded and, right when he was about to show the two of them inside, Gu Xi said again, “Wait, there’s one more.”

Dong Mingming, too, looked around after she heard that.
“Eh? God Xiu said he was going to come early.
Is he not here yet?”

“Should be any minute now.
He just texted me back said he was almost here,” said Gu Xi.

As she spoke, Su Xiuying walked out of the elevator and walked over to them.

Walking in front of the three of them, Su Xiuying, too, greeted Gu Shao politely.

Gu Shao’s eyes dimmed unnoticeably at the same time.

Thanks go the “eye-catching” emojis that Su Xiuying had sent to Gu Xi under the disguise of [AAA], it had left Gu Shao with a very “lasting” impression.

“The three of you are on the same team?” asked Gu Shao.

Not noticing the hint of sternness in Gu Shao’s voice, Gu Xi nodded.
“Mmhmm, the three of us.”

When Su Xiuying said to join the competition together, she thought he would be joining with his own project.
Lo and behold, he just joined their team when she was soliciting for teammates in class.

“Let’s go then,” said Gu Shao.

The three of them followed Gu Shao into the second laboratory on the left.

The three of them wasted no time once they went inside the laboratory.
The pulled out their proposal and started looking through it.

“I have looked over it and filled out some of the details.
Here, take a look.” Su Xiuying handed his modified proposal to the other two.

“Then, there’s this portion……” Su Xiuying paused a little when he got there.

He wasn’t sure whether it was his imagination.
He seemed to have felt a chill coming from behind him.

Must be his imagination.

Thought Su Xiuying to himself.
He straightened up his back in the chair and carried on, “I’ve made some modifications to the order of this portion of the content.
It talked about collecting the solid materials first and performing the analysis but I think we should be able to do both the food and the gaseous analysis at the same time, so I moved the gaseous part to the front……”

Gu Xi found Su Xiuying’s explanation reasonable and nodded.

“Then all we have left is to build out the model.”

“Mmhmm,” said Gu Nian, then she, too, brought up her consideration.
“As this is only meant to be a schematic model, I think we can just go for a simpler model and also go with simpler samples.
We will just do 3 – 5 samples, each having only one element.”

The taste and smell of food were too complicated and would be too difficult to create the actual product.
Nor was it something that the three of them could accomplish with their current ability.

As such, Gu Xi’s idea was to go with a simple schematic model.
It only needed to be able to answer some of the questions with regards to their design ideas.

Su Xiuying nodded when he heard that.
“Yup, my thoughts exactly.”

The two started discussing between themselves.

Dong Mingming, listening to the conversation between the two, looked baffled the entire time: Who am I? Where am I?
