The Witch and The Prince

Running away from the palace 20yrs old Princess Tata Edwards, a blonde beautiful woman hid in her chamber in the womens quarters and disguised herself into a maid. She wore a maid clothing that she had earlier taken from the ropes outside of her chambers and passed the guards as none of them seemed to recognize her as their second princess. Coming out of the palace gate, she immediately stopped a cab and ordered the cab driver to take her to Acan kingdom as that was the only welcoming kingdom she knew.

She has heard of some other kingdoms that killed and imporisoned her people but she wasn ready to die, so she told the cab driver ”Acan kingdom. ”

Reaching at Acan kingdom the cab driver whom was a middle-aged man slowed down and asked, ”Where will I drop you maam?. ”

After dropping some few other passengers in their preferred destination.

Princess Tata thought for a while and subconsciously mentioned ”palace ” as she was thinking of a safer place to stay.

The cab driver replied ”Okay maam, ” and drove her to the Acan palace that stood mighty in the center of the city. Reaching at a cab stop before the palace as the Acan kingdom still uses carriage, horses and train as mode of transportation. The cab driver came down from his drivers seat and opened the back door for her.

Princess Tata came down and paid him two golden coins but the cab driver was taken aback as he hadn expected for a dirty looking woman like her adorned in a maid clothing and a veil covering her head to be able to possess and owned the golden coins possessed by the rich families of higher status and the nobles in their kingdom. He immediately questioned her, almost wanting to create a scene as some passerby turned backward and stared back at them.

”Excuse me maam!, but where did you get this golden coins from?, ” The Cab driver questioned and Princess Tata Edwards turned to stare at him.

”Is there any problem with the coins?, ” She asked him not wanting to waste any much of her time as the night were quickly approaching and she needed to get to the palace on time.

”No!, Just that am wondering how a dirty looking woman like you could be able to possess and own this type of coins, ” The cab driver replied and Princess Tata eyes subtly narrowed her eyes at him. She enchanted him with her eyes to keep mute as her eyes shone bright redder colours. The Cab driver swallowed and kept mute while she left him and headed towards the mighty palace gate.

She was a witch and a pure blooded witch. She knew she had to keep all her magical powers hidden before her brother would start searching for her as he must be crowned king with a queen by his side immediately after two weeks of their fathers final burial and it already passed a week. She thought of a safer place to stay and there was no where else safer than the Acan palace.

Reaching in front of the palace gate Princess Tata walked closer to it and knocked heavily on it and a palace guard came out to see whom was knocking and was shocked to see a woman dressed fully in black knocking at their gate.

”What do you want!,? ” The palace guard questioned as he came out. He was a guy in his late 30s stationed to guard the gate.

Princess Tata raised her head to meet his gaze and the palace guard was surprised by her eyes colour but she quickly enchanted him to do her bidding as her eyes shone bright redder colours again.

”Is there vacancy in the palace?. Am actually here to work as a maid, ” She told him smiling and the palace guard nodded and immediately opened the palace gate for her.

Princess Tata Edwards stepped into the Acan palace and admired it beauty and after the guard closed the gates behind her, she told him, ”Can you show me to the maids department?. ” He nodded again and replied her, ”Follow me. ” And he escorted her and took her to the maids department that was built seperately at the back of the royal mansion.

Reaching there the headmaid named Lucy and her Assistant Helen as they were both middle-aged women stood in front of the maids department building gossiping about the crown prince whom has refused to pick a bride from the numbers of maidens his mother had selected for him. They stopped discussing as they saw the palace guard approaching them with a strange looking woman.

”What do you want Jonathan?, ” Lucy asked, as the palace guard came and stood in front of her with the strange looking woman standing beside him .

”Shes here to work as a maid, ” The palace guard replied Lucy and she stared at him in shock while looking at the presumed new maid and back to the palace guard. Her assistant Helen, also stared at Princess Tata Edwards in shock.

Lucy questioned, ”Maid!?, hope she knows she cannot work in this palace dressed like these, whats your name young woman?, ” Lucy turned to Princess Tata Edwards.

”Am Fiona, ” Princess Tata replied, mentioning only her second name as didn want to mentioned her first name to them, incase her older brother whom wanted her, came searching for her and probably want to fish her out from her hiding place, but the assistant headmaid questioned ”Fiona who?, ” And princess Tata Edwards swallowed and stammered to reply as she hadn thought of a second name she would say. She ended up mentioning her first name, ”Tata. ”

”Hmm, ” The assistant headmaid hummed.

”Well you have to go to the palace seamstress first, to get your size of maid clothing as you cannot dress like this in this palace, And secondly you come back to us so we can properly interview you and show you to your duties here in this palace as its getting late, ” Helen said and she left them to inspect the other young maids doing their duties.

Lady Lucy stared back at Princess Tata Edwards from head to toe after Helen left and said, ”You can go now to the seamstress place to change your clothes, then you come back here to meet me, I will be waiting for you and please be quick as am to go and serve the royal family by 8pm, ” She said as she stared at her wristwatch time which was past 7pm.

”Okay Maam, ” Princess Tata Edwards replied and turned to leave but Lady Lucy stopped her and said, ”You can call me Lucy or Lady Lucy, next time, but do you already know your way to the seamstress place?, ” She questioned.

”No Lady Lucy ” Princess Tata replied shaking her head and Lady Lucy said, ”Okay, you see that second tall building at your front, don mistake it and go into the royal mansion, when you get to the building you knock and tell whoever answered you that you are looking for Lady Alora the seamstress. Do you understand?. ”

”Yes Lady Lucy, ” Princess Tata replied and she left.

Lady Lucy didn stop her again as she left. She wondered why the young lady would cover her head in veil, dressing like the northerners as they were the only ones whom mostly used veil to cover up their head or faces, she shook her head as she stared away from her after watching her leave. She went back into the maids building to continue with her evaluation.
