Huo Chen frowned.
He did not reply.

“Don’t tell me.
I got you?” She reached his cheek with her right hand and fondled it playfully, “Or you only missed that one exciting night with me?”

Huo Chen looked into her eyes, his brows further furrowed, “Is that all you mastered in Golden City?”

Wen He chuckled and pouted her lips, “You don’t like it?” Her fingers slid down his neck and then his collar which left a trail of heat on Huo Chen, whose expression grew complicated.
Nevertheless, she carried on emanating her charm and made a new offer, “If that’s what you seek, how about we have one more one night stand? Just to pay you off for our breakup, to celebrate new relationships for each of us.”

“Is that what you really thought?” His tone grew distant.

Is that all you want to do? Devaluing yourself so I’ll get despised and drop you by the road? 

“Yeah.” Wen He sounded righteous as she spoke, “There’s nothing a good one night stand could not solve.
If one night doesn’t work, two nights.
If not, third time’s the charm.”

“…” Huo Chen stared at her in silence while a rage was brewing within his heart.
He threw Wen He away and opened the door for her, “Get out.”

Wen He shrugged and got off slowly, “So when’s our divorce?”

Huo Chen bit his lips as he tried to suppress the emotion screaming inside him.

“One week from now.
At the bureau.”

She wants to leave after all.
There’s no point for me to hold her back apart from humiliating myself.

The statement stunned Wen He yet she forced a brilliant smile, “Okay.
Thanks.” There she shut the door and the car raced away like a raging bull.

Wen He stumbled upon the shrinking silhouette of Huo Chen’s car.
Her plastic smile fell apart as she soullessly walked by the road under the dim moonlight while being blown by the frigid wind.
There were a few cars and pedestrians sometimes by the street but they did not hold indifference Wen He had towards the world by then.
They curiously peeked at her, seeing her advancing forward to the darker street.

“Hey.” It was then a Rolls-Royce moved leisurely to her side and the window wound down.
“My lady, do you need a guardian?”

It was Gu Jinzhi—an unpleasant sight for Wen He as she frowned yet she opened the door and entered the car anyway.
The man’s eyes contained joyful greed as his arms devoured her.
She struggled, “Let me go! I’m not in the mood to play!”

He sighed, “I feel like you’re in need of a nice warm hug.
I don’t mind.”

Wen He’s aggressive actions ceased as she fell apart within his embrace.
Tears weted his shirt as smudged by her makeup.
Gu Jinzhi’s eyes grew gentle as he tapped her back.

A screech from the outside attracted his attention.
Gu Jinzhi curiously watched the military vehicle zooming away from the scene.
He seemed to have understood something by then.

“Interesting…” His lips barely moved.

“Thank you…” Wen He pushed Gu Jinzhi away and uttered her thankfulness softly as she leaned against the other end of the car.

“Let’s go,” Gu Jinzhi ordered his driver before passing a glance at Wen He all curled up on her seat, barefooted.
